Managed colocation in Amsterdam

Managed colocation is colocation where the provider also does the physical work: buying or receiving the hardware, storing spares, racking, cabling, connecting, replacing parts and documenting every change, so the customer runs the equipment remotely and never has to travel. super.am does that work in carrier-neutral datacenters in the Amsterdam area, from a quarter rack to a full 46U rack and a data room of your own.

Colocation you never have to visit.

Who does each job

The difference is not the rack. It is the list of jobs that lands on your team the day after the rack is signed for. Here is the same list, twice.

You run it. We hold the screwdriver.

Nothing here is optional extra. These are the controls you keep, so that the distance between you and the rack changes nothing about how you operate the machine.

Four axes, one line on the invoice

No hidden coordination cost, because the coordination is the product. The invoice has four axes, and nothing on it moves month to month except the meters and the hands you order.

Four axes, one line on the invoice
Spaceper rack: a quarter rack from 1 kW, a half rack from 2 kW and a full rack from 4 kW, each priced by its committed power.
Powerper committed kW on a rack: €465 a month per kW, in steps of 1 kW. Each started kW above the commitment costs €510 that month.
Porttwo choices: the speed of the port and the commitment on it, measured at the 95th percentile. One 1 Gbps port per rack is included with IP transit; the rest is in the table below.
Handsper hour, in increments: planned work, booked at least one working day ahead and done Monday to Friday 09:00–18:00 Amsterdam time: €130 an hour, 30 minutes minimum, billed in 15-minute increments. Any other work, whether the same day, urgent, at night or at the weekend: €260 an hour, 1 hour minimum; we tell you the expected start before you agree. Prepaid hours come in packs of 10, 25 and 50.
One-offa cross-connect, installation outside the included scope, de-installation: setup of a full rack is €1,650 on a 12-month term, €825 on 24 months and €0 on 36, and of a half rack €825, €412.50 and €0; month to month, €2,750 and €1,375. A cross-connect between your racks in one datacenter is included; one to our network from another company in the building is €390 one-off and €69 a month; between datacenters, on request.

Moving in from another datacenter

Equipment already installed somewhere else moves in as a project with a written plan: what travels, who packs it, what is insured, how long it is down, and how you check that everything arrived.

Uplinks, exchanges and your own routing

A carrier-neutral building means the routing decisions are yours: we can connect you to any provider present at Nikhef or Equinix AM5, on request, and your prefixes are announced under your own ASN.

  • Dual fibre paths from the data rooms to Nikhef and Equinix AM5
  • IP transit at 1 Gbps included, with 10, 40 and 100 Gbps ports available
  • Your own IPv4 and IPv6 prefixes announced under your ASN, full BGP table; the BGP session is free
  • IPv4 and IPv6 allocations from us if you do not have your own: €3.50 a month per IPv4 address, or a block at /29 €18, /28 €31, /27 €53, /26 €88, /25 €141, /24 €220; an IPv6 /48 free
  • Private VLANs between your racks, included
  • Layer 2 point-to-point circuits, on request
  • A cross-connect between your racks in one datacenter, patched by us: included
  • A cross-connect to our network from another company in the same building: €390 one-off and €69 a month
  • A cross-connect between datacenters: on request
  • Private and public peering, included
  • DDoS blackhole included; scrubbing on request

Two ways out, and your routing on top

  • Two independent paths — two fibre paths leave the building.

  • Your addresses — your own IPv4 and IPv6 prefixes, or allocations from us if you have none.

  • Your ASN — your prefixes announced over a BGP session with the full table.

  • DDoS — blackhole included, scrubbing as an option.

Remote hands

Remote hands is physical work on your machine, done by an engineer who is already in the building. It is billed by time, it closes with a photograph, and it has a boundary: we touch the hardware, not your operating system.

FAQ

What is the difference between colocation and managed colocation? Show the answerHide the answer
In colocation you rent space, power and a locked door, and every physical job is yours. In managed colocation the provider buys or receives the hardware, racks it, cables it, swaps the parts and documents every change.
Can you buy the servers for me? Show the answerHide the answer
Yes. We source hardware in the EU on your behalf, so there is no import for you, the warranty is handled here, and the machine arrives configured and burn-in tested.
What is the smallest rack? Show the answerHide the answer
A quarter rack, about 10U, from 1 kW committed: €465 a month. The largest is a private data room from 10 racks.
How is power billed? Show the answerHide the answer
A rack is billed per committed kW: €465 a month per kW, in steps of 1 kW. Each started kW above the commitment costs €510 that month. Prices are indexed to the Dutch consumer price index (CBS) on 1 January; the energy part changes only when the datacenter's tariff does, on 60 days' notice.
My servers are already in another Amsterdam datacenter. Can you take them over? Show the answerHide the answer
Yes, as a migration project with a written plan, our own transport and insurance from handover.
What do I get in writing? Show the answerHide the answer
A contract, closing documents your accountant expects, and an asset passport per machine.
